Master of Science in Information Technology (IT, Communication and Organization)

The master program in IT, communication and organisation offered at Business and Social Sciences, Aarhus University, is a two-year business oriented master program, which qualifies students to solve complicated technical, developmental and managerial tasks that involve the use of information technologies in organizations. Graduates are thus capable of understanding the theories and working methods attached to analysis, design, documentation, management, development and estimation of IT-based communication and information systems in organizations and how to apply these. Furthermore the students are able to analyze and assess factors relating to market, competition, organization and management; all of which are factors that influence the company’s marketing decisions. This means that they can identify and analyze the potential development of IT-systems, where the appliance of IT and the business are closely linked.

The education is based on a range of traditional teaching methods where teamwork is a predominant feature when the students write and defend each semester’s written exam project(s).

The courses taught during the program include theory, methods and practical skills regarding e.g. programming, object-oriented tools for systems development (UML),  SQL and relational databases, data warehouse and data mining, integrated marketing and E-business and IT strategies in organizations.
